Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell (born in New York City) is an American television reporter, commentator and anchor for NBC News based at Washington D.C. Mitchell holds a bachelor's degree in English language and culture from University of Pennsylvania. Mitchell began her professional career as a journalist for KYW Radio and TV, Philadelphia in 1967. In 1976, she joined the CBS affiliate WDVM-TV located in Washington DC (then WTOP). In Washington, she was appointed general correspondent for NBC News two year later. From 1981 onwards, she began reporting on the White House. In 1988 she became the the chief reporter for Congress. In 1992, she was named the Chief White House Correspondent and in 1994 was appointed chief foreign affairs reporter at NBC News. Mitchell hosted and was a panelist at the TV program Meet the Press. Mitchell was on an advisory panel during the 1988 debates between George Bush (then president) as well as Michael Dukakis. Mitchell got married to Alan Greenspan the former chairman of Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell was awarded numerous honors in journalism, among them an award called the Goldsmith Career Award from John F. Kennedy School of Government in 2005. The award was presented to her by the Leonard Zeidenberg Award from the Radio-Television News Directors Association in 2004. Mitchell initially covered in the White House for NBC News from 1981-1988 during both of the terms of President Ronald Reagan. She covered many notable stories such as weapons control, budget taxes as well as the Iran Contra scandal. Mitchell also attended numerous summits in the company of President Reagan with Mikhail Gorbachev.
